Early Dál Cuinn Family Tree

Post by Webmaster »

Here is a family tree for the early Dál Cuinn that seems to correlate the best between the records and the Y-DNA. It is my analysis that the branch that shows Domnall, the credited progenitor for the Uí Maini of Connacht in the Book Of Ballymote, is completely fictitious; although it is possible we have not yet seen any test results for any supposed descendants of his. But as discussed in The Uí Maini Puzzle topic, most of the so-called Uí Maini families are showing up as R1b-A18726+ Uí Briúin or R1b-FGC23742+ Uí Fiachroí.

Please bear in mind that the order shown for the mutations in the R1b-DF105 phylogenetic node may not be correct; that is, we cannot know what the original order of occurrence was for DF105, DF108, and DF109 unless the node is split. But they serve nicely as placeholders to indicate the general time frame of occurrence of a mutation.
