Haplotree Update

Post by Webmaster »

Based on both The Big Tree's and YFull's Haplotrees for R1b-A18726, both the R1b-A10528 and R1b-BY77548 clades were moved from being direct subclades of R1b-DF105 to being direct subclades of R1b-A18726 under R1b-DF105.

These changes spark the following surmises:
  1. Brión himself was only R1b-DF105+ in order to allow for the parallel R1b-BY35731 Uí Briúin, Uí Máille clade to be descended from Brión's son Conaill Oirbsen. This fits with the Y-DNA of the descendants we are seeing from Brión's brothers Fiachrae Foltsnáthach (R1b-FGC23742 and R1b-BY35727) and Niall Noígíallach (R1b-ZZ87) as well.
  2. R1b-A18726 most likely occurred in Brión's son Dau Galach.
  3. R1b-A259 most likely occurred in Dau Galach's son Eógan Sríab. This is necessary in order to allow for the branching we see under R1b-A259 to be attributed to Eógan Sríab's 2 sons Muiredach Máel and Cruitine. Please see Speculation On The Real Origin Of The Uí Briúin Aí for a more detailed explanation.
  4. The R1b-BY198, R1b-A10528, R1b-BY77548, and R1b-BY184425 subclades of R1b-A18726 CAN be attributed to Dau Galach's son Erníne, whose descendants are given an extensive genealogy for several generations before being discontinued in the Book Of Ballymote. They are credited with several named septs.
Again, this is all still speculation, but it does fit the Y-DNA Haplotree so far, as well as the traditional genealogies for the Uí Briúin.
