After Tim McEvoy pointed out some other possible Cland Cathail surnames under the R1b-FTA43254 clade, I took a more detailed look at it. With the data we currently have, it appears that R1b-FTA43254 MAY be the Maicne Artgaile, the sons of Artgal, son of Cathal, son of Muiredach Muillethan. Then its two (2) subclades MAY be:
This is a very labyrinthine genealogy because there is a Cathal, son of Muiredach Máel, (R1b-Y166841) and then a few generations later, a Cathal, son of Muiredach Muillethan, descendant of Fergus (R1b-A260). It is suspected that POSSIBLY these two (2) different branches became conflated, especially since both branches have Ó Conchobair and Ó Flannacáin families.
- The R1b-FT185820 subclade might be the descendants of Cináed son of Artgal.
- The R1b-FT62545 subclade or some combination of its phylogenetic node variants might be the descendants of Colla son of Artgal.
