Our Moran tester's results are back and are as expected. Other than A1206 which he might or might not be positive for the only step left would be to do Y700.
N144524 - Moran - John Moran b abt 1820, possibly Mowgownaugh, Mayo Ireland - R-FGC23742 - moved to "DCG R1b-DF104 > R1b-DF105 > R1b-FGC23742 - Dál Cuinn, Clanda Eochada Muigmedúin, Uí Fiachrach, Cenél Feradaig Dathíi"

This is great news @Flann! I think David was thinking that they could also be more than likely FGC52024, but now that Im looking at Knox vs Firbis I have to change my mind? Could be A1206 too? @ David: "There is enough distance between the Cland Láegaire territories around Ballina and the civil parishes of Balla and Manulla where the Ó hÉicnecháin were centered, that it is not too difficult to believe they were definitely from different branches of the Uí Fiachrach. Therefore, to keep the option open for the Ó Móráin men to match the Ó Cuinn under the R1b-FGC52024 clade, I am going to tentatively conjecture that Stephen Bird is from the Ó hÉicnecháin family, since he is R1b-FGC46310+, the same as Bernie Dowd (Ó Dubda). Please understand this is merely MY surmise, not fact. If anyone has more info or a better surmise, please comment on this post."

Tim,
I think you were quoting me, and I still surmise Mr. Bird is from the Ó hÉicnecháin family at this point in time. The other possibility is the Ó hÉicnig family that is mentioned as the previous ruler of the region prior to the Ó Móráin. But the river that bears their name is in Coolcarney, or least just to the east of it, so IDK exactly who the Ó hÉicnig were.

Victoria Moran wanted us to respond to her with a description of what the results mean. I also wanted to give her an idea of what the next steps might be.

These appear to be possibilities so far. The Morans could be R1b-A1206 or R1b-FGC52024 or even a different clade, although the first 2 are the most likely at this time. Hopefully, the Morans will test further and we can isolate the Cland Láegaire.
